Well, I made a new instructable, as you can see here:

Soup Can Brazier - More DIY How To Projects

That is about it, except for 2 things.

@ I got a Hot Wheels '69 Firebird, and it is really cool. And I found Coca Cola with sugar in it! T'was Delicious.

@ I am going to Albany New York Thursday through Sunday. It punches my spring break in the face, but I'm kind of glad, because if I kept up the pace I've set so far, I'd be dead by the end of the week...

Free Books!

Well, today my school's library was getting rid of some books that haven't been checked out since 2000, or later. So, Me having some disease that makes me unable to resist free things, so I decided to drop in. Looking through the books, I found some really good ones! Jule Verne's From the Earth to the Moon (Pretty Prophetic),  Burma Rifles by Frank Bonham (It caught my attention because the author has the same last name as the main character in Johnny Got his Gun), Custer's Last Stand by Quentin Reynolds, and Fire! Its Many Faces and Moods by James J. O'Donnell. Well, I'm going to start reading Jules Verne, and see what this steampunk is all about... Haha

You know what book was insanely prophetic? Futility
                                                                                                          Aww. Macro Failure...

Well, there is a dinosaur named after Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park (And many other books). I am currently too tired to really say anything, but here's the wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crichtonsaurus_bohlini

I'm nearing finishing reading Next, which, despite being really confusing, is a really good book. You should read it if you haven't says I. Actually, an even better book that you have to read is banner in the sky. It's an amazing book. Check it out. That's all for today guys.

What a Great Title, Just kidding, it sucks.

I'm back guys! So, just when I think that life is getting boring, life comes and punches me in the face with awesome. But, moving on, here's a rundown of this morning:
I woke up in the lodge where I was staying at around 6:15, and it was silent. I lied in bed for a while, getting fully conscious after staying up until 12. I got out of my sleeping bag, and sat on the edge of my bed in the empty room, and decided to go downstairs. I knew everyone else was asleep, so I pulled on socks, to muffle my footsteps. The hallway was empty, and my footsteps echoed. I walked down the stairs, and pushed the door open a crack, and slid through. It slammed when I let go of it, or it sounded like it to me. I walked across the meeting-type area with the couches, and realized I wasn't really supposed to be on the girl's floor, but ignored it and walked into the kitchen. I found the hot water machine, and the tea box. I groped in the dark, trying to find out which tea was which. I grabbed to one with the plainest cover, and dropped it in the cup 2/3 of the way full, of course, I didn't know that in the dark room. I grabbed the sugar and poured some into my cup of tea, then walked to the meeting-room thing, and sat on a couch. The rooms were bathed in the grey light of dawn, and I didn't want to turn on the lights. I sat there until 7:10 or so alone, just enjoying the peace. Eventually my friend's dad came down, and then at 7:30 the parents went and woke up all the kids. I just liked the peace of the morning in the pre-dawn grey light. It was peaceful.

  • How do you drink tea without burning your tongue? I like tea, but burnt tongues of mine are my enemy.
  • On Friday I fell off the ground and broke my vocal chords.Go figure.
  • I'm watching Life, and it's pretty great. Related, it would suck to be an octopus. They die after reproducing, sounds like no fun. Meanwhile, being a pygme Gecko looks like fun.

Hrm.

Well, I'm going camping tomorrow in the insane morning 'til Sunday, so no post tomorrow I guess. Today wasn't that interesting. But, last night just felt like a weekend night, didn't it? The atmosphere, I just flt so calm and laid back, my brother and I just went driving around Georgetown, it was great.

Yeah, I don't really have anything to say today. I'm listening to Before the Flood Disc 2 (Bob Dylan and The Band) and my ears are bleeding joy.

That's all for today. Bye.

Hot Wheels

I'm sitting here, watching mythbusters, and they're testing a myth that a hotwheels car could be a dodge viper in a downhill race. First to mythbusters. What a great show. Sure, I know that it gets so much praise, it doesn't need mine, but I personally love the show. Hijinks, explosions, and science, what's not to like? Now to the hotwheels. I guess I was supposed to outgrow them a while ago, but they're just so cool! I have a V8 Vega, and a Gallardo, and then all my other cool ones disappeared... I also used to have a ton of track and a motor, in bygone days. But, they're gone, and I've found more interest in the design of them, as oppose to the toy aspect. I really want a Sizzler, originally introduced in the 70's. They were reintroduced in 2006, but discontinued in 2007. You know what's funny? Mattel owns Hotwheels, and bought out Tyco Toys, which owns Matchbox. Go figure

Here's that story I promised (Third person Limited)

They were nearing moon 317 and there was no turning back for them. The spaceship had been stolen from a spaceport, as were most of the supplies onboard. John was with his team of mercenaries, many of whom weren't human, but they were all dedicated. There was nowhere he'd rather be when the laser arsenals opened up, an event which he realized would happen sooner than expected.
John walked down the dimly lit hallway, looking for his right hand man, Schwartz.. He walked up to the weapons specialist, Kyysargdia, " You know where Schwartz is?"
"Haven't seen him, I'd check the engine room."
"Thanks," John replied as he headed towards the engine room. Dang, I never can remeber what planet he's from. John thought to himself. He walked into the engine room, finding Schwartz. "You have any idea what we're going to do once we get through the barrage? The moon has all of one spaceport, and you knw as well as me that there's no way we'll make it out of there, even if we land, and that's a big if. And there's no way I'm setting this down in that crater field."
"Well,, I was thinking, we have 30-some guys on board, and four escape pods, ya dig? So, we steer this puppy into the ground, they think they shot us down and we're all dead, then we land those escape pods, regroup, and stick to the plan."
It's crazy enough to get us killed, it might work though, John thought. He turned back to Schwartz, "There's 32 Guys onboard, 33 counting me, and those pods hold 8 guys. By my math, that leaves one odd."
     "We have oxy-masks, right?"
"Yeah, but the moon got an oxygen shipment last quarter."
     "We have parachutes?"
"Yeah, what are you getting at?"
"Well, I was thinking, one of us could stay with the ship, and bail out with a parachute and an oxy-mask through one of the pod holes."
"Who would be crazy enough to do that?"
     "I was thinking me sir."
"No way, you're much too important."
     "Sir?"
"I'm doing it," John said as he stared out the porthole. He didn't want to, but somewhere inside him, John knew he was going to stay behind, one way or another.
The first laser strike shook the ship. John sprinted back to the bridge, as everyone hurried to battle positions. "This far above the loving moon? No way we'll make it," John muttered as he grabbed the wheel. The forces exerted on the 80 year old ship were nearly too much, it was on the verge of tearing apart. John grabbed the ship's PA Handset, "Everyone onboard, grab as much as you can carry, and get in the pods!" Humans and other being s ran throughout the ship, scrambling to the escape pods. John stepped to one of the portholes and saw one of the pods fire off. "One, there goes two, Three, where's four?!" The Lunar surface was approaching way too fast, and the lasers were still firing. John realized he'd have to get some room for those escape pods. He came up with a hasty plan, this is going to get me killed, he though, but he was going through with it anyway. John looked back out the porthole, and saw pod four shoot out of the ship. He ran back to the armory, hoping that he had enough time.
John twisted the timing knob, and locked the engine room door. Hustling back to the bridge, John pulled on his oxy-mask and buckled the straps on the parachute. He tucked his laser pistol into his belt, and hit the wall next to the door. The entire ship shook, and the noise was deafening. A column of fire shot through the door, and the ship jolted as it was rent in two. John had to act fast, so he turned to the back. Above, he could see the void of space, and he sprinted. The ship was on fire, and tipping downwards. John dove out of the gaping hole where the rest of the ship used to be, and entered freefall. Down below was the lunar surface, and god knows what else, John thought as the barrage began to cease.

Well, I apologize for putting that off for so long, but now t has been done.

Sleep

Huh, my sister just came downstairs and kind of collapsed on the couch next to me and fell asleep. I feel pretty bad for her. Throughout elementary school she had a really hard time getting her work done, she took so long to do her work, and now she's in middle school. There's a lot more work, and it takes her a while to do her homework. When she's done, she collapses, because she's not getting enough sleep. I see a lot of problems compounding here. There's too many distractions nowadays, TV's, Personal Computers, Video games and Ipods  are becoming standard. Often I just come home from school and want to instantly watch TV to blow off the steam from school. By 8th grade, I just hang out with friends for a while, and that works pretty well. Also, Schools give so much homework, and it's difficult for people to transition the first year. But, I see it's better than any alternative really, high school has infinity homework. There's also the problem of peer pressure.remember 6th grade being the age where you were cool the later you stayed up. Now sleep is the cool factor. I recall being really stressed out in 6th grade, for what reason? Homework was nothing compared to now, I wasn't over scheduled like I am now, none of that. I am a lot happier now. I have more friends, more fun, and have learned to take things less seriously, without thinking that life is but a joke, for you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate, so let us not talk falsely now, for the hour is getting late!

I got a CD of Bob Dylan and the Band! Live in concert! IT IS GREAT. There's harmonica solos, Bob Dylan sounding like a normal person with the best lyricist ever (Himself), and The Band! Oh man.

So, I was hoping that I would get this blog post done about an hour or two earlier, but dinner got in the way. I'm not going to be posting the story I promised, but here's an improvised story.

The darkened skies enveloped the street in shadows. It had been weeks since the sun last came out from the unnatural clouds. The city was demolished, as were most of the people, save a few hundred, and the mayor. While the fires burned, the mayor holed up in his office, looking out on the destruction. He was fine wit waiting until FEMA showed up, but his citizens weren't. He turned to the Southern picture window, which looked down on main street.
A man with a handkerchief pulled over his face stepped over the rubble onto the street, walking North. His footsteps echoed, and dust plumes flew up with every footstep. Two more joined him. The building loomed over them, even from 5 blocks away. Four more joined. The group steadily grew, until the majority of the survivors were marching North on the building.
The mayor saw the mob, and was taken aback. He turned to the door, when the a the picture window shattered, and the floor around his feet burst into flame.

Overslept.

Well, this morning wasn't that unlike any other, my alarm went off at 6, and I turned it off and went back to sleep. Obviously I'm kind of missing th point there, but I kind of like to pretend that I could get up hat early if I needed to. Normally, I just go into really light sleep for 30 minutes or so, but this morning , I went into REM sleep. Granted,  had a pretty cool dream, and I was rested, but when I woke up, I looked out the window, and saw how light it was. I assumed that it was 7:15, but when I looked at the clock, I found out that it was 7:52. The problem with this is that my school starts at 7:40 for all intents and purposes. I pulled on pants, grabbed a t-shirt, and sprinted out the door. The thing was that I had never really been in a situation like this before, it was kind of a shock, and also a sense of profound personal failure. I'd seen a lot of people come in late from oversleeping, but I never was one, well, now I have. I'm going to bed earlier from now on.

Note: While writing this, I looked at the clock, and it was 7:08, for a thing that I had to be at by 7. Can I just give up on this week? Please? I'm hoping that the after affects of being in a room with a kid with bronchitis for 8 hours. This week is not going well, but hey, my attitude is more than half of it, right?

Here's another story, third person omnitient, like I promised. (Bonus points for correctly guessing which song it's based on)

Steve walked down the street, his brim pulled down low. The streets were silent, except for the sound of his feet. He realized that his vengeance would soon be satiated as he loaded his pistol on the usually populous Chicago streets. Before he could let go of the slide, a score of bullets ripped through the unwonted silence. The bullets hit with deadly precision, and Steve dropped to the curb. A man walked out of the shadows, and pulled a handkerchief off his latent face. He nudged the body with the toe of his boot, and thought to himself, "Not today, punk."

A Story!

Well, nothing really happened today, sorry. Well, in lunch, I tried to make a Leyden jar, unsuccessfully.

Here's one of those stories I promised!

He walked out into the October Afternoon, and he couldn't shake the feeling of disbelief that had overtaken him. He tried to convince himself that this was just another drop, but deep down, he knew that this one was different. The usually full sidewalks were barren, except for the occasional man on the curb, head in hands. Stock Tickets blew through the canyons, , but no one gave them a passing glance, let alone try to pick them up. He looked up at the skyscrapers, and the construction, and a sense of foreboding hit him, and the realization that hundreds of people had lot everything, including him.

Huh, it seemed longer when on paper. Oh well.
